Hey guys, Im new to the forum and am building my first board have some questions:

 

1: Does U.S. Composites have good glass?

 

2: What do you put in resin to color it?

 

3: Is it hard to make your own fins?

 

4: What chain stores sell rice paper?

Hey Charlie,

  1. composite fiberglass will do the job.  I don’t know if it’s better or worse than some of the others.  I buy my glass from Thayercraft.  Google them.  Good prices and service.

  2.  Color resin with resin tints or pigments purchased from online surfboard construction sites if there isn’t one near you.

  3. What do you mean by hard?  If you can foil a surfboard you should be able to foil a couple of fins. 

  4. You can get rice paper from the nearest art supply retailer in your area.
