New Years at the fin shop

With the lazy low pressure sitting here in central California and the temperature hanging between 50 and 30 degrees. I’m foiling the last of my plugs and hoping for some sunshine to bring the temperature up to at least 65 degrees so I can stack some fin panels for Lee V., Greg Tate, & Herb. Attached are John’s new fins and one for me or anyone here in Santa Cruz the is so inclined to test ride. The transparent blue on is John’s 8.25" Luxe with a tip a little more generous than a Mental but other than very similar to it. The yellow one is John’s 8.0" Drifless. The Hawaiian print fin is an 8.0" Neg~G which hasn’t been dipped yet.

I’ll look forward to John’s reports on how they perform as he tries them on which ever boards he chooses.

Sure would be nice to see the sun but it looks like we’re gonna get drizzled on for another week and who know when another storm will rip through.

Wow! I like the feathers. Great concept. Those will get second looks wherever they go. Keep thinking outside the box. It’s good for all of us. Doug

Hey Rich,

R got to try her new fins for the second time. I hadn’t told her to expect any change in performance because I wanted to see what differences she would pick up on her own without suggestion, but when she came back in the other day she said, " You know, I think those fins help me catch waves easier." When I asked her what she felt she said it felt like someone was giving her an extra tap from behind.

Not very technical but this was also in very small waves, so there is a noticable difference in performance.

Hey waaahoo,

Hey, thanks for the report mate.

Less drag is a good thing as long as she’s feels that she has control. Sounds like there’s a bit of confidence building as well and from the first comment about feeling of being locked in I think she’ll be rippin’ before long.

Oh, be sure to tell her that a surf-fairie helped me foil those for her – could be she climbed to the box just before I shipped them off.

Don’t surf the board unless she asks you to. Keep a low profile and keep listening for me mate. I suspect we have lots more to learn from Rhonda.
