newbie on the block

Just like to say hi. new to the site and all I can say is ‘ACE’. Why have’nt I come across it before. The perfect companion to Vagabondsurf.

Been building boards on and off for a while/years, some good most bad. Want to try a bigger paddleboard, but no-ne else here in Wales has a clue as to what a paddleboard is. will post piccies when done.

As to new materials, I have a hotline to my cousin who designs high performance yachts for a living [Americas Cup, Open 60’s, ultra/ultimate 30’s etc] so I may badger him on the availability of ‘spare’ nomex, graphite and epoxy

next project: solid paipo board twin fin, wide, floaty, fishy

in the green room then

I’m not up on latest paddleboard tech, but seems there are several different classes of, and some are allowed to ride swells, other aren’t.

Most I’ve seen are EPS/styro, length around 14-17’ long, displacement bows, round bottoms, and long, elegant outlines, around 18" wide and thick, like 7" or so.

Don’t know what class those are, but they allow for kneepaddling and prone paddling, ride swells pretty easily, and seem to weigh around 14-18 lbs.

Hmmm…don’t know much about Paipo either. Seems if it’s 1/2 thick, it might need small fins. If thinner, doesn’t seem to need bottom tail fins.
