My vote would be to copy as exactly you can a current swallow/fish type board in your quiver (or one you have access to), but fill in the butt-crack (squash or diamond tail), and see if you can tell the difference…
I’ve always wondered if the fish got lots of it’s acclaim because of looks more than an actual difference in feel…Chipfish may know the answer…
Sat Sept First I’m headed north on Hwy 5 with a friend I met on Swaylock’s. We’re going to a party in Laguna Nigel. “Hey let’s call my friend in San Clemente he lives just off of the freeway”. Stop by my friends house. We have a beer and to our surprise the neighbor gets a Brand New T Patterson Egg hand delivered !!!
Well… were up stairs on the balcony and they are down stairs. I know he said it was 21 inches wide ,I think 6 feet long. Looks like a fish template with a round nose and a round tail. No swallow tails ! Glass on keels with a small tail fin in the center. Wow! I can’t get this concept out of my mind. The tail was fat but the curves were nice…
What do you want it to do? Small wave preformance and easy wave catching ability? How tall are ya and how much do you weigh?
Make a biscuit!
Their like ridding a skateboard, super short, super flat rocker, go anywhere on the wave, punt, slide, etc reallly easy.
Im 5’8 160 and I would ride a 5’2 x 19 3/4 x 2 3/4, pretty round nose and a ‘thumb’ tail I think. I think AM Runs a flat into a vee but a really light single would work too…
Oh ok, I say rocketfish then! 6’0 x 19 1/4 x 2 1/4 x 12.75 nose x 15 tail, Nice swallowtail, Something like 6" wide 2" deep, no bumps hips or wings with a low nose rocker.
