neXt Generation Plastics................Report on new Red-X Fins

Tom,

I Love your New Generation-X white plastic fins, very responsive,w/ a quick return, and because the fins are so thin they create much less drag at paddle/entry speeds,so it allows me to gain wave entry much faster. They also trans. much smoother than anything I've ever ridden in the passed to present. To put it on a equal level..................I would say the difference in the new fins vs the older plastic or fiberglass fins, would be the difference between a Greenough flex rake and a stock plastic/fiberglass fin like a old polycarb Brewer of that era.............A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank you for letting me in on this new tech.and hope to see more of it in other templates,Good show guys, your the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Happy Holidays...............Hey Tom Say "HI" to your family/dad/and especially Dennis.

Thanks for the kind words Herb. We’re going to be cutting the Next Generation X-4s this week and next. My brother just shaped me a new EPS Fish that we incorperated a Pavel Speed dialer type bottom and quad fin orientation. So, I’m looking foward to testing these X-4s in that board.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Tom

Pavel quad, should be different for you.Should be around your area next week.Hoping for waves.

Hi Tom, I use the RED X fins in my boards and was going to do a quad for myself over the next couple of weeks, i was wondering what fins set up you would recommend. i’m a pretty big guy 6’2" 190lbs + 10 for 6mm suit. I usually ride the x4 or x8’s but I don’t know a lot about quad’s and have never ridden one before.

thanks

I’m 6’5" and 185. I’m planning on running the Next Generation X-4s in the front and Next generation X-2s behind. But, until we actually finish these molds it’s all theory at this point. I’ll let you know in a couple weeks.

Hey Tom

Would like to see the quad if she’s up and running sounds interesting I have guy in Newcastle doing a 5 fins setup with our X1’s as his trailing set on the sides and with glass ons for the rest I have just shown him the bonzer setup and he’s thinking of making some variations. But I am keen to maybe have a flyer tail shaped with a quad setup so i’ll be keen to have a look at what your up to.

Cheers

are the fins ABS plastic injection molded or something different?

Hey Poorboy,

Would the guy doing the 5 finners be John Scollay by any chance?

PoorboyOz,

I've got a shaped blank. But, I haven't gotten the glass I intend to have it done with. I'll post some shots when it's complete. But, I can't right now.

Turbojets it's an new injection molded plastic that has a super high flexural modulus in the same arena as G-10 material.

Hey Gill

The guy doing the 5 fin boards in Newcastle is John from Newcastle Surf designs i’m not sure of his last name though i’ll check it out for ya though.

Tom

No Hassle mate just keen for some different surfing experiences so i’ve been playing with different fin designs and set ups.

John (from Newy Surf Designs) is a mate of mine. Often run into each other in the surf.

Question two: are those redX bonzer set ups available in Oz?? Where did you get them? I made a 6’6" Bonzer 5 last year and had to lay up all of my own fins. Would have been easier to use the RedX system…

Do you supply John with stuff??

Sorry for all the questions.

Craig Gillespie.

Hey Mate

Yeah definately The Bonzer is available in Oz and we are about to bring in some more centre fins a 6" and a 6 1/2" which will broaden the usage of the system i believe.

When you work out the time and effort in using glass on fins in the bonzer set up it works out more time efficient to use the Red X version it also allows you to tune the board by moving the fins forward or back to get exactly the right fin positioning for the style of tail you’ve used. Having said that I haven’t really had to move mine as they go so good. For photos of mine check out the Aussie Bonzer thread I started a couple of weeks ago.

And yeah we stock John from Newcastle Surf Designs with Red X fins so if you wanted a set all you would have to do is get him to call me and order them. I also have recomended measurements and stuff to help you get it right the first time.

Ajustable is the only way to go ,when using removable fin box systems.

I know this you know this now if I could just get the rest of the surfing world to put faith into what is probably the best & strongest system in the world then I would be stoked. The adjustability of the system can be the difference between your new board being good or bloody magic.

Cheers
