Bagman: I’ve never been 100% successful in doing leash loops with roving or rope, mainly because it’s tough to get all of the air bubbles out. I used to lay up a small sheet like for fins, and then cut out what I needed, glass it on like a fin, then drill. I’m too lazy for that now, so I made a simple mold out of wood and just pour them. The finished shape is a half moon about 3" x 1-1/2 x 3/8 thick. To make the mold, take a piece of 3/8 plywood and cut the outline you want from an edge. Sandwich this between two other pieces, clamp together and pour. Spray the wood with silicone, let it soak in then wipe it before using the mold. Sand the pieces when cured. To glass, use a little roving on each side and a couple of cloth strips over the top. I use a 12" long 1/4 dia drill for the hole.
