Nose and Tail specific templates

hey everyone, longtime lurker, first time poster here…

 

need some info on making a nose/tail specific template (a short one) really for only the first and last 12 - 20 inches of a board…i know a lot of shapers use them. Short of poaching one from a shaper, whats a good curve to start with? a round pintail?

Fold some rosin paper in half, measure one foot up the fold, mark your tail width, sketch out a half template, cut it out, unfold it, and see if you like it.

Adjust, repeat.
