Ok I’ve been working on this board for about a month now… It was a POS crappy 8’10" LB that was in need of repair. Upon removal of the fiber glass the foam was in good shape still yet the tail section was totally rotten… I have now re-shaped it into a 6’3" Fish shape. But problem is shaping the nose and tail rocker… Any help and ideas will be appreciated. only tools on hand are 1. electric planer ( 1/16" max cut depth ) 2. Electric sander 3. hack saw 4. sanding screens 5. sanding block 6. homemade shaping racks I like plenty of nose rocker ( i have a tendency to nose dive the board sometimes and I found a good amount of nose rocker helps me prevent that. ) http://kickme.to/angelictorment
Depends on the type of fish.A old school fish requires little rocker, where as a modern hybrid will take more rocker which is it?Herb
Its more of an old school fish now I guess… Its got very litl nose rocker where I wanted more… tryin to find a way to correct it ( I guess there is no way… oh well…)
…3 or 4 inches should be plenty.Just as long as the rocker is fairly flat in the entry and mid to fins. The first 16" is where 85% of the kick should be.Herb
If you want to plane some rocker into the bottom take a series of passes with th planer starting at around mid point.Just keep moving forward about every 3 inches.Kind of hard to explain. I make my passes in this way and open the planer depth with the lever as I move forward. You end up with a series of “steps” that you clean up with long passes.Hope this isn’t confusing. R.B.
Thanx guys… I’ll do that tomorrow in the after-noon or sometime when I wake up… Thanx for the help and tips ( first board I’ve ever shaped… yet it comes froma pre-existing board too)
