not happy with a board for a customer..what to do?

just finished and got glassed a board for a customer. im not really happy with it. the bottom and rails are good, the deck is a little lumpy. im already not making any money on the board. its for a really good friends, friend.  what should i do. shape a new one, or not?  thanks

Start charging more in the future so you can re shape if this happens again. I dunno, sounds like you are in a bind. Can you sand out the lumps or cover them with the hotcoat, or is the foam itself lumpy? The deck is going to get lumpy anyways after a few sessions. I wouldn't offer to eat the cost on something you were already doing as a favor.

Tell your friends friend beggers can't be choosers. Plenty of full price boards on the racks at the local shops.

If the ‘contract’ was a professional quality board, you owe him another board,or a refund.  Customers and friends usually are bad combinations.  Mike

Discount it, give it to him for free, tell him you F'd it up and it's no longer available, keep it and ride it,

make him another one, if it's really bad - destroy the evidence?

If it is just a cosmetic issue just keep it and ride it or sell it on craigslist and try to get some money back out of it. See if a discount would be ok. If the customer is dissapointed then chalk it up to experience and make a new one.

thanks everyone…i think im gonna leave the option to him… and if he wants ill make him a new board.

bring him in, show him and explain what happened and let him decide what to do, if he wants it, let him pay for it, otherwise you could sell it and then redo him another...or offer a discount....

Good call groggy lbc, Let the customer decide if the board is up to their standards.  But remind him that he got a Bro deal. He might be stocked with the board.
