get it,got it
GOOD!
Brilliant! That is the way you do it. Great to have an extra hand, too. I don’t recognize that brown tape. What is it? Holds up well with epoxy?
My only critisism is that plywood fin. I think you’re going to get some snickers over that. And it might not hold up in the water. Let me send you something better. (ha?)
all the best
Very cool!!!
Preach brother Ray!
No solvents
I get all kinds of comments on my plywood fin…works for me. 3M changed the names and numbers for all the tapes…I’m still using all of the free stuff I got from a former employee…I’ll be paying full price in about 1 month!.. I did have some bleeding but no big deal… I’m a big fan of 3M tape.

Beautiful one StingRay!
Thanks (again) for the words and pics Ray. Your glassing threads are always a good read.
I thought the uniform matching tag-team lamination was “Cute”.
HAHA!
Good stuff Ray.
What? No BEER!!?? Mike
" NO BEER"
He say “NO SOLVENTS” !
Beer is a lubricant not a solvent…Ha ha!
We tried proper resin swirls with epoxy with some success…lots of resin…boards came out heavy…
I call this method a Slob Job… note that we are using both white pigment resin and clear resin. First board posted has wide cut laps…Longboard is more chaos…long board has black resin, first board does not have black…
One pass with clean squeege. hand it to helper. One pass with clean squeege…ect…start in the middle and work to the tail…then start in the middle and go to the nose. Clean squeege each time.
It’s all for fun, cute uniforms were not planned…
Stingray
Great thread! Loving it.
So to be clear, there are two boards on this thread- a midlength (quad?) and a longboard single fin?
Great thread,
One set of tools per job I assume. Brush etc
The first photo is a 6-8 Quad.
All photos after that are a 9-4 longboard. 50/50 rails…rolled bottom into Vee. Stingray’s new summer quiver…just need to sand the 9-4.
SK8Mnt… Squeegees get wiped off with paper towels while the resin is still wet. No solvents. If the resin cures you just twist the squeegee back and forth to break off the resin…then brush it off with a clean razor blade. Squeegees cost $0.75…cheaper if I buy in volume. Paint brushes are one time use…cost $0.50 to $0.95… If you are cleaning brushes you better have really good PPE . I just let the resin on the brush cure. Cut off the wood part. Throw the cured resin brush in the trash. Throw the wood handle into the fire wood box for the next camping trip… It’s reduce, reuse, recycle… I’m not a greenie but I do all three…
