now its my turn for a birthday board!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok folks, as amny of you will be aware i have been shaping boards for all my friends 30th birthdays and last saturday was my 30th!

woohoo, we had a wicked weekend camping and surfing and my friends and girlfriend have all chipped in to buy me a board for my birthday, what makes it by far the best present ever is it will be shaped for me by Mike Peet at Atlantic surfboards of Devon!

the only problem is i have to decide what to get him to shape. im meeting him at his place on saturday to discuss things and i know between the two of us we will come up with something sweet but id really like some suggestions from you guys!

its going to be my first ever visit to a shaper even though ive built 8 boards myself so im really looking forward to hanging with him for the day.

my current quiver is as follows

6’4 Fish (first ever shape)

6’5 shortboard with single box and probox quad setup

8’10 pintail with single box and probox quad setup.

im allowed anything upto 9’6 but if i decide to go bigger id chip in towards it.

i mostly surf north wales beach and reef breaks, occasionly get down to devon and cornwall and a couple of times a year head out to Morrocco for some right hand point action.

my initial thoughts are a nice big noserider but im really undecided. its almost too much choice.

really hoping you guys can help me out!

you are missing a noserider

Happy birthday Dog.

Wow, what a pressie, all I got was pants on my 30th…Oh no that was a lie, but I didn’t get custom shaped board.

I’m inclined to agree with the big noserider thing matey, deffo a necessity Saunton styling.

Cheers Ken and Jase,

noserider it is then.

what shape?should i just go single fin or should i get him to put probox sides in?

and what about the tail? plenty of tail rocker to aid noseriding and turning? square tail, pin?

help help help! lol

its so much easier planning your own i think coz you get tied up in thinking bout making it rather than the style too much, might just be me!

so hard!

ok ive been thinking dimensions for a noserider, ill throw you guys the numbers and hopefull y u’ll have some suggestions.

9’6" @3" thick

24" wide @ centre

nose 19" @ 1ft

tail 15" @ 1ft

nose rocker 4 3/4"

tail rocker 5"

im thinking of rounded flat nose, almost parallel rails, thinish but 50/50 coming into a wide 8"? square tail with a bit of a sharp edge.

underneath im thinking single concave under the nose and bit of tail flick in the last 8" to help noseriding. large flat section in the centre to give me speed trimming.

will i need any v in the tail or is this not good for noseriders?
