Home hacking takes a while in the winter phew .
6’9 x 20 3/4 , full length single concave with a slight dble added through the fins.
Kind of a Brendan Milch , Neal Purchase jnr kind of deal.Very similar to a board of Milchy’s I checked out at the fish fry. I copied the rocker from my old McCoy thruster , very 80’s.You don’t wanna see the foil it’s a dog’s breakfast.
It didn’t end up as meaty as I’d hoped - I got an oversized blank ( needed the low rocker) but still had trouble getting it to fit.
Someone told me the other day I could’ve / should’ve used a mini mal blank - Doh !
this was my first time glassing unsupervised and I nearly came unstuck !It was the coldest morning of the year at that stage and I put the resin out in the sun so it would flow better.Should’ve heard alarm bells when it felt warm as I carried it to the table , but I gave it a little extra catalyst as well … and of course it started to kick in the pot before I’d even wet the laps !
Fortunately I had a pro tip to keep some resin waiting in case of disaster - so I dropped the pot like a hot potato ( running across the garage muttering ’ not good not good ’ into my mask , with every newbie train wreck story I know replaying in my head ) mixed some more and managed to make it . Exhilirating.
Lesson learnt , the deck side went much better.
She’s full of zits and defects but at least not twisted like the last one - the lowest volume board I’ve ridden for quite some time , it’ll be interesting to see how I do on it.
