Aloha,
Curious to know if anyone wants to get together a AB3/Fish Fry thing. I remember there was a swaylocks meet a while ago…just looking for like minded surfers and builders. I posted this over at the surfermag forum too.
thanks,
Mitch

I’d be up for it. Pick a date (weekends seem best) and place to gather. That’s pretty much all it takes to get started…
how about
haubush park
for coming end of may-june summer swell season
big beach with easy and quick 5 min paddle out so you can try lots of boards
not as crowded as kalaeloa/officer beach barbers point which would a second choice
5min drive from the supermarket and fast food joints
not so hot on facilities though
close to you

we did kapiolani park and puena point but surfing and watching the stuff left behind on the beach was a problem.
I’d be down for it too.
Let’s go crash Joey’s house. Just bring him enough ono food and beverage, and I think he’ll forgive us. We get our own private beach, and it’s at Shark Country!
It’ll be the only time people can see what we lost.
Thanks for the replies…I think it’d be cool to have a get together on our side. I will look at the calender and see if we can’t get this thing rolling…no dice on the surfermag forum, I’m not part of the “in” crowd. boo hoo.
i’ve mentioned the idea to a couple guys in the water and there seems to be some interest…
thanks,
mitch
don’t make it more complicated than it is; the best things in life often start small and simple. So the first time maybe 2, 3, or 5 guys show up… if it’s fun, the next time you do it there will be 8 or 10… before long you’ll be longing for the old days when it was less than 50 who show up!
Just: pick a day, a spot, and a time and some way for people to spot you (sign, flag, big ugly board, whatevers), post a note listing that info, then make sure you actually show up with a little food and a board or two - .
“if you wax it, they will come.”
Oh yeah - let folks know whether to find you in the water or on the land!
hey Mitch
“imua Kamehameha!”
didn’t realize you were a grad.

Hey keep me in the loop - had fun last time, be cool to hang with you guys again. I’d do my best to make it - Don’t understand the three fin exclusion but s’alright.
Eh! how you know?
Yes, I graduated in 1992…loved my years there, even though i was always the haole skater dude…even though I have more blood than most of my friends…
How about May 23 at haubush…it is a Saturday. My wife and I leave for the mainland on May 26 and don’t come back until late June.
Bud, I didn’t mean to be a “board snob” I’d love to see your work in person…hope you can make it.
I’ve got some fish and a planing hull I’ve made…will bring those, some shade, some drinks, whatever.
Let me know if that date doesn’t work…would like everyone who wants to come to be able to.
Mitch
I’m coming over next week! May 5th to 15th. My wife and I will be staying in Honolulu, Polynesian Hostel.
If it’s during that time I’d LOVE to come… I’ll be bringing my 9’2" balsa comp plus a bunch of my fins to play with.
If I should miss it I’d still love to met up with a few swayloholics. Each time I’ve been to Hawaii I’ve been able to met at least one swaylo. It’s ALWAYS been a LOT of fun! Let me know.
Les
Hi Les, lets try to hook up for a surf session. I made a Thrailkill double fin board that rides pretty good. It’s only 7’2" though.
If your cell # is still the same as the last time I was there I’ll give you a call when we arrive.
I’ve been thinking about that double Thrailkill fin on a board that I’m re-building. I’d love to try it.
I’d also like to met your brother, I owe him big time!
Les
Hi Les, same number. I would love to go for a surf on Sat. or Sunday. My weekdays are too busy with work right now.
A couple of the other Hawaii guys on Sways surf at number 3s on the weekends. Maybe we could all go for a morning surf out there. Dennis, Jon, Derrick, you guys lurking out there? I think my brother would come in to Waikiki if those guys can make it.
another lurker pops up… I came to the first Hau Bush, then to the Puaena event. Watching this closely.
We had a good time in the water this morning, though inconsistent. The afternoon was smaller (though it was supposed to come up) and MUCH less consistent. What to do tomorrow? Go surfing before work, of course.
“the tall old haole guy at Lighthouse”
Good, I’ll call you when I get in. I’ll be at 3’s Sat or Sun morning (although I am up to trying other areas…west side?) , would love to surf and chat about board. Haven’t seen Jon in about five years! That would be nice. Thanks!
I just finished some new fins… carbon/balsa, curved… so that the tips are almost horizontal. They turn easy and when you go to the nose they hold down so the nose doesn’t pearl dive! You got to try them.
Les
You still planning on getting together this weekend? Let me know if the get together is still on.
I didn’t realize that my duaghter is graduating this weekend from Kamehameha. I have to attend a function Saturday, but if I can I’ll try to get out there for a little while. I have some things I need to get out to my brother so it may be a good reason to go out to Ewa.
Aloha, Harry
Hi Harry!
Thanks for showing me such great Aloha! We had a good time, now it’s back to work.
Look forward to seeing you on this side of the Pacific… maybe this summer?
Les
Howzit everyone,
I will be out at haubush this Saturday morning…I bring my shade tent and we will keep it casual. I’ve got a green VW camper and will bring some boards for sample.
I will try to set up next to the showers…for those who don’t know:
One’ula Beach Park at the end of Papipi Road.
Harry, thanks for the reminder…forgot it was graduation time already!
Hope to see people there, if not we will plan another day this summer!
Mitch
Hi Mitch, I’ll probably be able come down, but it won’t be until about lunch time. My brother’s been sick for a couple of weeks, so I don’t know what his plans are. If I come, I’ll bring a couple of single fins, and the Thrailkill double fin board I made this year. Would be nice if there’s waves.
