I was given this pendant by an old friend of our family. He surfed the Cape Hatteras area 30 years back. He said the pendant was given to him by an older surfer and is around 35-40 years old. He said it was a pretty common pendant among his group of friends, I havent been able to get much more than that out of him as he’s not too coherent when I usually see him ((years of alcoholism unfortunately)) but I was wondering if any of you know anything about it.

I remember those things.Its what they called an “Iron Cross”.They were worn by surfers in the early 60’s and back.If you can find the old Greg Noll movie “Search for Surf” you will see them.Seems like Murphy (or the Hodads) wore them in the old Surfer Magazine Cartoons.As I remember most of them were worn by Kooks and Wannnabe “outlaws”.I think that Jim Phillips had had one long ago LOL.I had a Saint Christophers medal when I was a Grom.We were called Gremmies back then…I don’t know where the word Grom came from.Hey I gotta go for now.There is a surf movie at the local auditorium and I gotta kneel in a cold bathtub so my surf Knots will swell up and look cool.We have a bag full of bottlcaps ready to launch and Phil Ewards is gonna be there.
