Howzit tjd, Got any pictures, hard to give advise when we don’t know the extent of the repair. Just yesterday I did a consult with a friend who needs to do some extensive boat repair. Aloha,Kokua
well here she is the surfweiser…shes a harvey dory made in aloha oregon. i want to put a nice coat of paint on her haul ,but she needs some love first…how do you keep her structural and smooth to boot…what materials shall i use? i will pm you kokua i just wanted to show the straits point wave search vehicale…
Howzit tjd, Actually it looks in pretty good shape, is that dirt in the area over the wheels. First thing I would do is clean the hull and check for cracks or other damage. The boat I looked at yesterday was a wreck compared to yours. Today I'm doing some shower stall repair in the downstairs unit and it's just like doing boat repair.Aloha,Kokua

Being as my real trade is boat carpenter…
Like Kokua said, from what I can see she basicly needs a little cleanup ( borrow a pressure washer ) and polishing with a decent marine/boat type polishing compound. Paint isn’t necessary, though I would maybe lose the stickers and such on the sides.
I have successfully used a pressure washer to get those off too.Alonmg with paint on fiberglass. There are bleaches that’ll remove rust stains and such, available at most bigger boat supply outfits.
What I would look at is deck and any framing and such inside . I can’t really tell if the outboard is hung on the transom or set in a well, but check that: most people waaaay over-power a boat, so you’d have the potential for damage/problems. Something like that would be fine with no more than 40 HP.
Nice boat. Clean her up and you will have something nice.
That’s the old Hindu, presently in ( I think) Boothbay Maine being torn open for repairs. 40 new (sawn) frames, lot of planking, whole new interior, etc, etc, etc.
