Hoping someone here can help identify if this board was shaped by Mickey Munoz or not…or possibly direct me to Mickey or someone who can help identify it. It is a 6’8" single fin with the typical 70’s rail profile. I picked it up at a garage sale in Agoura Hills, CA (near Malibu). It has no lams or logos on it anywhere. It looks like it says “MUNOZ 18 or 81” and “37 glassed at Hobies” on the stringer. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
That’s cool, Mickey shaped for Hobie’s in the early '70’s and I considered him one of the best in his time, and still do. He’s still stoked, still shaping, and still surfing- all these years later. He’s not a legend; he’s the real deal.
He was shaping there in 1965, when I shaped there, and even before that I’m sure. He has deep roots in the industry, and culture. Iconic, for sure.

Thanks thrailkill and ghettorat! I was able to get an email to Mickey and he said it looks like his signature on the stringer but couldn’t tell what the numbers said? Strange that it has no lams and he said that he didn’t recall them writing “Glassed at Hobies” that way…and the leash plug was added later. Either way, I am sooo stoked on this board! Super fun to surf at waist to chest high points!
Mickey shaped me a couple there, nice boards. Mickey’s a national treasure.
Cool board. I hope all those dings are water tight. Put a little wax up on the nose for cheeter fives! Yee Haw! Mike
