old board: info wanted

I scored this semi gunny stick in santa cruz, the guy I got it from said it was in his mom’s attic for 30 years! no name or dims… some one told me it was cut down from a long board by the looks of the  1" stringer .any  thoughts would be cool

Well, it’s an early round pin. Too bad the shaper didn’t sign it! Maybe test ride it!? It might be fun…

Up until the 1980s, shapers rarely signed boards. Some guys put little symbols on a stringer, as evidenced by the guys who worked at Hansen’s.

But, if you have a board from the 70s or older, do not expect to see a sig, dimensions or anything like that.

IT JUST WASN’T DONE BACK THEN!!!

Aside from that, it looks like a really bad backyard job**. **Could be a cut-down. It’s pretty damn ugly.

PS: Round pins were around long before that hack job was done.

Looks like a re-shaped longboard. Backyarder for sure.

Agreed - it’s ugly, but despite that it’s a remnant of time…It does have a long board like rocker…prob a reshape as told…

Want to know more? - ask some more questions - why was it in mom’s attic for 30 years? Who surfed it last? Where?  Get some names - there’s alot of old history in SC, and you have to ask to know…

30 years probably only covers a part of that’s board’s life

and yep, that’s a back-yard special for sure! - is that a fin box?

Thanks for all the input! I just hung it in my kids room as art. Yea she’s not gonna win a beauty contest but I think it looks cool and you really don’t see them often . Should be fun to try out (leash less) + it has a super weird glass on fin .

you can put a leash on

if they still sell those glue on types?

Try it out at pleasure point it's a good old point break... it'll tell you quik a boards worth...if it doesn't work out, heck - you could shape something leagues nicer I'm sure!
