Old dyno beater single fin. Help.

Any info? I bought this for 50$ 10 years ago and its clearly seen better days. its just literally been collecting dust int he basement. Dings on nose and tail points and a little delam Near tail ont he deck. I just know its a dyno. Single fin box on bottom.

also Should have said any info anyone might have on it would be much appreciated.

maybe a collectable

Herb Spitzer may know something about it

...the 'STINGER' swallowtail single fin  ...

what length , width , and thickness is it , please ?

have you ridden it yet ?  ( I may be wrong , but didn't david nuuhiwa ride a Dyno fish or two , 'back in the day ' ? )

....also , what is the fin on it like ? ...if it has one , do you have a photo[s] of it , please  ? [it may well have been a nice , multi-pigment foiled one ....]

While we are on the subject of 'the Stinger' design ....

here are a couple of shots of  one , that Simon [my brother] has ...

his quote ...

" 6'2 x 19 1/4" Summercloud stinger. Shaped by Ronnie Goddard [Coffs Harbour !] A beautiful board , my pride and joy "

....he also had an Aipa one , which I think Eli [his son] may still have , hopefully ...??

looks like one of mine..........possibly rick mchale, les pronier.

does it have #s or initals on the stringer ?

if so ,what are they.

herb

roughly what year would that have been made , Herb ?

and how long do you reckon that board is , please  ?

would it be roughly 26-30+"  up , the 'stinger' wing ??

and so...DID Nuuhiwa ride your boards ? [I'm pretty sure I have a video [?"5 summer stories" ?] which includes footage of him riding a little stumpy fish , with THAT logo ?!  [or very similar , perhaps??] on the deck ]

cheers for the feedback , Herb !   ...respect  !

late 1975-later-76.

i did alot of stingers back then, mostly for dyno.

the sting-wing formula back in those days was a third of the board's length.

that is 1/3 of the board's length from the tips of the tail to the wings.

eg. a 6 foot stinger would have it's sting set at 24" from the tail.

even though david has admired my boards in the past,i don't believe he's ever ridden one.

.........................the board........here in question...........sure looks like mine.

Thanks for the info! I had a busy weekend but otnight Ill grab a pic of the fin (which is really cool) and check out the rest of the details. it’s kind of crazy to get info on this board when no one has ever really know anything about it. I learned to surf on this board for a few months before I got a funboard many years ago, it made learning a bit tough but it was still a fun board, Its been out of the water for a long time since I dont want it to get any more damaged than it already is. It really needs some TLC first.

I bouight it off a guy from the penny trader in riverside. I had no clue about surfing and had just moved to california hence why I just blindly bought a stinger as my first board.

please fix it and ride it !

Herb , thanks heaps for the info

i'll have to try to dig out that nuuhiwa footage one day ...

i wonder ...did skip frye have a similar eagle on HIS fishes , or donald takayama , perhaps ??

  cheers
