I wasn’t really into school, still aren’t.
Learned enough from everything and everyone to head in my own direction.
Old school…yeah, watching the curl, chasing the fall line, feeling the power.
New school…yeah, pushing limits on modern equipment.
I can relate to both, and I bet I’m not the only one.
Schools for fools… when old school was new did they call it new school then? I think I am middle school headed for old school to fast. Thrusters are now old school and fish are new school …auh! Who cares!

Surfing has progressed to an extreme, taking retrospective look at the past has revealed a missing element in todays surfing for the average surfer not on the pro tour. Floatation.
Sometimes progression means knowing when to start over again or ride what you want, but enjoy what you ride and don’t give others a hard time about what they choose to ride.
There really is no such thing as old school or new school, just surfing.
Attitudes change. Riding waves does not.
