One bored in San Diego County…what would it be? requirements 1. can’t be a longboard for storage reasons; 2. needs to be strong; 3. need to handle crappy beachbreak to fun reef break; 4. needs to float a 180pounder.
Well most any funshape should work for you, maybe a 7’6’’ or so with a backup fin for the small days. If that is still to long for you then maybe go with a 6’4’’ x 19 1/2 x 2 5/8 type fish 3 fin setup should work in one foot slop with out giving up too much in head high reef breaks. You may even be able to go a bit smaller on the board but thats a personal thing (I’m at 175lbs and have a 6’2’’ x 19 x 2 1/2 fish that I ride in everything up to waist or chest high) Personaly I think everyone needs at least two boards, one for the average small day and one for those not too rare bigger days, call it winter and summer if you want to. Hope that helps. Alex
