I just got back from a trip to the caost (it was awsome, thanks for asking but thats another story) Anyway I got back and was really keen to try out some new tools I bought while away, to get a feel for them. Problem was I couldn’t locate my eye protection, so I though I would make do with some snowboarding goggles. As soon as I approached the foam I noticed a real difference in what I was seeing. The goggles have orange lenses designed to help see the contours on the snow slope. They really help with seeing the little lumps and bumps when shapping, I’d never thought of using them before but I think I’m going to stick with them.
Has any one else used snowboard gogles when shapping, or just when holding up the local liquour store?
I’m not sure if the lenses have been treated or if it’s just the colour, they are quite a deep orange, they seen to increase the contrast of shadows on a white surface.
they’re also much more comfortable to wear, and are a lot more durable that the goggles I’ve been using. I know this seem a bit crazy but they really seem to help.
Check this link…Burton makes about 20 different type lenses for all sorts of ligh conditions…I bet a t least a few of them would be real cool to try out. Only problem is you gotta buyt the goggles first, and that’ll cost you!
how many of us actually use safety goggles? maybe im an idiot but i never wear goggles just cause they are annoying, at least i wear the respirator religously. I think i may give the snowboarding goggles a try tomorrow cause i always have trouble seeing the little dips and imperfections
howdy yall! I usually just wear my regular glasses, as for as the respirator, I have a bad habit of wearing it while I coat the board, then take it off while Im waiting for the resin to go off! I do open a window and turn on a small fan. I am going to try to keep on the mask cause I dont have many brain cells to spare!
If you are looking for contrast, a yellow lense will bring out contrast. And if you are looking for a good pair of polarized safety glasses, try looking at gun stores. I may be sounding like Herb Spitzer here, intertwining surfing and shooting, but You can get a really good pair of glasses (polarized, amber/yellow safety glass, large ‘aviator’ style lenses) for around 30 bucks Canadian. I got a good pairs of simmons, and they set me back all of $27(Cdn). They are totally sweet for bringing out contrast, and as a bonus, help ya pick out a rabbit ear poking above the grass more easily. Downside is that they are open on the sides.
