One more fish

Hi,

First of all, i am not an active writer in the discussions therefore not very popular here, but be sure that i am one of the greater readers  Second, my english is very bad, so excuse me if the understanding of the text is not the best one.

I would like to present my 5’8 classic fish project (my first homemade surfboard). I have done it in XPS with epoxy (Resoltech 1070S). The pictures explains the process that i have follow, so i would like to read your comments about it (sure i have done a lot of mistakes).

The pictures quality is not very good… sorry.

Greetings from the Basque Country.

XPS plates. Two plates to get the appropiate thickness.

Applying glue…

Final result.

The rocker templates.

Hot wire (guitar string and a PC power supply)

Hot wiring.

Final result (1/2).

Final result (2/2)

Marking outline template (before, i glued the stringer -no photo-).

After sawing…

Another angle.

After deck and bottom sanding…

Shaping rails (1/3).

Shaping rails (2/3)

Shaping rails (3/3)

I do not have many photos of laminating process…

Making fins.

Fins placed and sanded.

A really poor leash loop.

After gloss coat.

To be continued…

Nice one sUgOi, your English is fine and the pictures are clear. If I may I have a couple of questions.

When you glued the XPS plates together what glue did you use? Did the hot wire pass through the glue layer OK?

Thats a really nice finish too! I bet you feel proud.

Hi hanger_on, i used a special polyestirene glue and no problems with the hot-wire passing through the glue layer… i have prepared a second pair of plates blued with carpenter glue (also called white glue here), but i have still not hot-wire them.

good english , great sequence of photos , pote …merci beaucoup for sharing that with us !
