The board that Im about to glass is my first board that I reshaped, so there are a few flaws in the blank that I had to use spackle on and want to hide it. So I decided to use white opaque, my question is when laminating the deck with two layers of glass, do I lam the first layer opaque, then clear the second? Or do I just lam the both of them together like normal. I would think if I lam the first seperatly from the second would add a lot of weight
Normally you do them together. Spackle is not a good thing to use with polyester, okay for epoxy however.
thanks, I normally wouldnt use spackle but there were a couple of deep goudges that I couldnt take down.
GB:
For gouges in polyester work I’ve used plain old granulated sugar and lam resin for filling the holes. It dries the same color as clark foam if you use good resin. You have to mix it thick, like putty and scrape it off true to the finished shape. It will harden and be difficult to shape when dry. Thanks to Jim The Genius for this one.
