Open-ended design challenge

Here’s one for the thinkers onboard… suggest a design for a 6’6" 230 pound customer, fair to good physical condition and a long-time surfer age 51. Will be used to ride waves not more than head high, moderately crowded reef breaks.

This is a customer far out of the range of normal population. He doesn’t want to have a big mac attack just to get a wave, and he very seldom drops in on anyone, relying on knowledge of his spot to get a better line-up.

What say you? Let the mad fun begin…

It seems that everyone is too shy for this challenge. Maybe there are too many possible answers. How about some more info, I mean who would want to suggest an outrigger canoe if the man is into mat surfing? What about a big wave gun?

Shortboard, longboard, or funboard?

He can easily ride a 6’10" big guy tri around 21.5 wide, 3" thick, flat decked, 13" nosed, 16" tailed. If he wants to shortboard.

No problem.just increase the width and thickness a tad.You can do this with most designs and would be hardly noticable.Herb

life rolls on.

Just rent the guy a soft-top and forget about it. McDing

Saw the post and thought I would reply

I would go with somthing classic yet not to thick but have good volume and foil. 9’.4"Length, 18.1"Nose, 22.9"Offset 15.7"Tail 3"Thick at Offset 5" Nose rocker 0" Mid section rocker, 2" Tail Rocker. Convex Bottom Slight Trihull to “V”.

as far as rails I would go 50/50soft Nose to 50/50soft Mid section to 60/40down Tail to square bottom Haul at 80/20hard

yup thats about right.
