Opinion on number 6

Tell me your opinion, good or bad or anywhere in between… It’s a 7’3"x19x2.750… No fins yet, that’s next …

My opinion, it look’s freakin sweet!! Fin it, surf it and do tell how it rides.

Cheers,

Scott

That’s a spanker Shaka.

I really like the foam distribution through the foil. Nice spray job. Amazing the quality you can get with an Airbrush with too much experience.

Is that waiting to be glassed, what is your plan there?

What sort of waves are you expecting it to excel in? Let us know how it goes.

Cheers,

Stevo

Will’s Opinion:

SWEET! Congratulations on your 6th board, it looks totally awesome. Show us pictures when you get some fins on that bad boy. Oh and tell us how it rides.

Edit: I forgot to compliment the coloring on the deck, nice.

Nice board. Are you planning on launching that thing into some El Porto hollows?

Yeah, El Porto should be looking pretty good in a month or two.

Nice spray job, reminds me of a giant banana.

what fins are you putting in? glass ons or plugs or box?

I think it’s yellow…

Looks sexy…On the gunny side.

Tell us how she rides.

Thanks folks for the kind words … A much better response than I expected. As for El Porto ?? Heck yeah !!! Actually anywhere where that thing will work.

As for fins, I was planning on utilizing the Probox system… I really like the adjustability, BUT in the installation instructions, it says that I should reinforce the area with 6oz . Since the board is already glassed with 4oz I am now officially confused. If one of you fellow Swaylockians can point someone to my thread that can offer some assistance, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !!!

The probox system is the ticket, installation is so easy and Robin’s customer service is topnotch.

The 6 oz patches are put on as football shaped patches about the size of the install jig where each box goes. If you have already hotcoated, just sand down the area for each fin location and laminate the 6 oz patch, re-hotcoat the tail area and sand smooth again before routing the box holes. I also put a piece of 6 oz in the bottom of the hole before filling with resin. If you have any questions, email Robin at probox, he answers questions super quick.

To bad your photography skill is not the equal of your shaping!!!

Great looking board.

No need to be confused about the patches the aboce post nailed it cold.

Fin it. Ride it. Love it!

Drew

Hey shaka,

I like it. I live in your neck of the woods. It looks like my 7’-6" aka my “Close Out special.” It looks like it would have the same function- for those solid over head but pretty much closed out days- get in early, pull in, stan there, hair dry and look cool…on your way to oblivion. I love the South Bay!

I sent Mitch an email regarding this question and he “recommends” 6oz patches, so that’s what I’ll do next. Now I need to find the time because my honey-do-list is getting quite long…

This is to ALL of you fine folks that responded to my post. Well I finally put fins on it, and it rides better than I thought it would. It’s quite fast, and turns like crazy. Once the rail is set it goes into hyper speed, which helps in making the critical sections. The conditions were about 4’ - 7’ and pretty clean. The ProBox system is super easy to install, and the adjustability is a definite added bonus. From now on ONLY ProBox.

Post some pics with the fins. Did you get some mackers this past week?

Merry Christmas to all!

I wasn’t able to get out into the water until Saturday because I was still getting over the flu, but by that time the swell was pretty much gone. I was able to snag a few fun ones, but felt out of shape. This coming week should be good, I hope. Take it easy and enjoy your Christmas.
