I’m still an unknown shaper.I only shaped another 10 boards if that.Started hanging around with a crew that did’nt surf. Did a trip around Australia, and did’nt surf for a year. Got home and started surfing again and have’nt looked back.Got more involved with laminating than shaping. I don’t remember doing a board like that with blue tint. I do remember doing a round pin with blue tint. It was part of the learning curve I was talking about. It was glassed outside in the sun, with some mates hanging around, including the owner.A recipe for disaster. And a disaster it was. Gelling resin, only half glassed, laughing mates. This board became mine and I made my mate a new board. We ended up throwing it of the cliff at the north end of Whale Beach during a flat spell as a sacrifice to huey, in the hope of a new swell.Good times. The piture below is the profile of the board above.David.
I bought a 10’ 4" South Bay Surfshop three stringer eggrail board from a guy in Fontana. He found it in his chicken coop alog with a pair of 602 vintage racks - aluminium with suction cups and canvas web straps. It had an early playboy centerfold glassed int the deck. It explained the one ding the board had - a single dent right in the middle of the deck from surfing with three legs.
