OT: Anybody have experience with floor epoxy?

As I’m building by board I am becoming aware of the shortcomings of my garage (oops, I mean shaping bay). It is heavily used and is way too dusty. Some of this dust endend up in my hotcoat leaving me less than happy. I have decided to epoxy the floor and install a dust collection system. Has anybody had experience with floor epoxies? I think that I want to get a 2 part, solvent free epoxy since I often drag my tools around. I normally wouldn’t post such an off topic post, but I can’t think of anywhere where people have more experience with epoxy.

Can you recommend an good epoxy?

Dan, I work at a place with a 2-acre concrete yard and a front-end loader driving around scraping the floor all day. We patch chips and cracks with this: http://www.quikrete.com/catalog/VinylConcretePatcher.html and it stays put. It also can be trowled out & feathered to very thin and it won’t crack away. I think it would be great for a garage floor.

I actually used that stuff to patch some holes that I put into the concrete. What I want to do now is make my garage much more dust free and easier to clean up. I want to put in an easy to use dust collection system, paint the floor, and maybe one of the box dust filters that you have. It seems that I’m allergic to all the different types of dust my projects create (in addition to stopping the dust in the hotcoat). Thanks!

Hey DanB

I’d be trying a 2 pack polyurethane mix. Comes in clear or you can tint it.

Hard as nails and goes on so easy.

I haven’t heard of it. Where would you find that kind of paint?

Mainly paint stores or you could try flooring places. If you know a tradie in the business he/she could get it cheaper.

oddly enough I ran across a web page about “floor epoxies”… I’ve always just painted concrete with paint, but I suppose there are other alternatives.

Meecrafty had sent me a link for the very same company. Does anybody know anything about them? Their prices seem to be good and they have a lot of information about all types of epoxy, but their webpage is so poorly done that they don’t make me feel overly confident.
