( OT) COSTCO TROLLEY surf vehicle.

The 14 year old son is too big for those Razor scooters so he needed an upsize.

The one I made is behind the Razor.

A- handlebars, B-front wheel, C-rear wheel, D- seat.

All aluminium 1 inch tube, the wheels are castors Ive recycled from a supermarket trolley.

He can strap his shortboard lengthways from the handlebars and from the seat and keep both hands for control.

The rear wheel is fixed but the front one is left to pivot so theres no steering at all from the handlebars that are welded straight anyway.

It steers by leaning, as you lean the front castor points to the inside of the turn, similar to a skateboard but with a long wheel base.

The seats not totally finished yet but so far its made with a solid flat bar so a chain can be put thru the centre and secured to a pole or whatever.

It can be used like a push scooter or he can sit and roll down the hills or ‘walk’ it along the flats.

Now he can ride something that fits his height, its also cheap, recycleable, ugly, bullet-proof and rides with a quirky swoopy feel.

Theres still a few mods to go before it hits the school yard for critiqueing.

Man , that thing looks scary as crap. Skate trucks give some resistance to the lean thereby giving a buffered control. Have you tested it yet?

Looks well built, but man I hope your kids got tough elbows and knees, and can fix a ding.

So if it steers by leaning what happens when you load one side up with a board?

I especially like the 3/4 inch pipe catwalk standing platform, very sporting of you! Change out those wheel for some ABEC 7 oversized something or whatever and you got your self a bonified deth trap! Excellent work, the father of invention would give you a high five. But the mothers of self destructiveness would burn you at the steak.

I’m dying of laughter! I needed that! Couldn’t have been said better.

why do you hate your son so much?

I would say it would be best to figure out how to make that thing trail behind a bike, cuz that thing is gonna be cruzin’ for a bruisin’ especailly if he’s been boozin’

that is sick

Thanks for the comments guys, remember the welds arent even cool yet so give me some time to add the basics and optional extras !!

Surfkid, you must be young and adventurous like my son because he thinks its great too.

The weight of a 6’1" board hanging off the side doesnt affect steering considering the weight of the 6’1" kid riding it.

I put a basic padded seat on it today and its rides fine, moped scooter style.

When you sit on the seat and cruise down a hill, I use my shoes to slow down but it doesnt go real fast considering the top speed of trolley wheels.

My son is stoked but he wants to pimp it with a matt black paintjob, 6" wide footrest, a front rack for stuff (read: I-pod),and bigger faster wheels but he doesnt want brakes.

Its a cross between a scooter with a seat and a bicycle that you dont pedal and its no more dangerous than either of they are. But I will do all the mods he wants so the beta version will be pretty tricked out.

Thanks for your ideas too guys.

Brett.

would it be possible to get dimensions or measurements for that death trap? i’m always looking for new ways to loose skin. plus i’ve got a buddy that welds anything under the sun, so it would be a fun build.

if you feel like sharing, that is…

jc9_0, can do, but let me work on the modifications rather than both of us doing the same thing. Ive got a simpler method of steering to test that doesnt use a castor so let me get back to you with final dims soon.

No email address for you but I will PM you.

Brett.

thanks in advance!!
