OT - Moving to New Jersey for work

Well, It has come time to say good bye, at least for a few years, to my home town of San Diego and make the move to New Jersey. Reason I thought I would post something up regarding this is that 1) I don't know anyone there 2) would be nice to have some people to surf with etc.

So bassically in a few months I am looking to move into the Sea Bright/Highlands area. Will be heading out that way to start my new job and start apartment hunting in the next 3-4 weeks, and thought I would see if anyone living in the area might have any pointers/advice.

Just kinda taking a stab in the dark posting this but a closed mouth doesn't get fed.

Any advice on the types of boards that work well in the local breaks in those areas would be welcome as well.

Got a 5mm Axxe wetsuite with booties, gloves, and hood on order currently although I know I am still going to be in for a shock.

Thanks for reading and any info offered.

P.S - Current board is a 5'10"x20"x2" toad type shape thruster. Currently running the Future Scimitars

Can't edit my post. Should have specified New Jersey.

Sorry for any confusion.

Sea Bright/Highlands very nice area, close to NYC. Good surf, albeit inconsistent. Best time in the winter so you will need a good 5mil w. hood, 7mm boots, and mittens. You will come to understand why there is no such thing as winter in San Diego. Narrow tube rider works best on the really hollow offshore days. May need to go south sometimes, as swell starts to fade that far up north. Can drive out to Long Island to catch the offshore on the North wind days. Good Luck.

Make sure you have a 5/4/3 , 7mm boots and 5 mm gloves, steep , hollow waves, we call them Jersey death pits. winter is the best time to surf here. I live south of where you are moving to about 35 minutes away, a nice ocean front drive. You are more than welcome to come  surf with us and check out my shop and if you need anything.

Wecome to Jersey
