Craftee, your boards are beautiful. What have you used on the rails? I like the darker rails.

Right on Greg. I wish you woulda stopped me. Better yet, I wish you woulda stopped me as I dragged that box with all my tools in! The blue rails are the Dow XPS. No problems SO FAR with that little rail piece off gassing. I have my fingers crossed. They look cool. We should have a Swaylocks meeting at those things!!

Hey Craftee,

Beautiful boards! I’m wondering what material the rails are made of, seeing as how they are much darker than the bamboo.

Also, if you don’t mind me asking a few questions- what was the glassing schedule and where did you find that bamboo veneer?

Again. great work!

Thanks for the compliments guys (sorry Drew for the hijack)

Looks can be deceiving…what you guys see is mostly artwork…acrylic paint watered down…Im no pioneer in the artwork area. But I do like the darker rails…it “frames” the board. The bamboo v was an experiment and while it turned out nice, its very stiff (#2eps)…so it wall hangs for now. My schedules are nothing special…very similar to FW…proly more flex tho…which Im still trying to sort…good in fast drops (punchy BBs), nothing special in avg EC mush. Its been a bad season for waves (Its been very warm on the EC this year)…Cali is getting all the action this year it seems…damn Nino :frowning: bring on Nina

I got enough compliments for both of you.

Craftee- what’s the schedule on a FW? 4oz under 4oz over? The rails are painted hi density foam or balsa?

Drew- I attached pics of my 8-0 fun gun, just because the outline curves are so similar to you board. that’s why I say I’d love yours. I made it for big days at a certain So Cal spot, known to be a “longboard wave.” It’s big and heavy but I’m now addicted to it. I ride it all the time even in small beach break. I can get in early, set up for little tubes and it’s heavy so I can bust out of ones I wasn’t able to on my shortboard. It still turns good and does great roundhouses. I only weigh 155 and the board is 8-0 x 22 x 3 so it’s way beyond what I’d call a big guy tri, but what can I say? I love it

Hey lillibel…nice board.

That’s classic lillibel, looks like my wizard’s big brother. That curve came from a board I did a repair on for Gabe Kling. It’s a Paul Barga curve. I’m pretty good frinds with Barga now and he’s moving into the factory soon. I owe him so much for that curve! I’d say 90% of my boards come from that template. Such a nice flow, works great in everyday waves over here, and really turns on when it gets “bigger”. Yours looks sweet! BTW finally got the board back yesterday and got to test drive in chest-head fun surf last night. I have the flu, probably 100 deg. temp, no energy, but that board went unreal!! I’m super stoked. I’m so sick that I had to get out and run back to the rip every other wave, just not enough energy to stroke back out, even in chest high surf:( But I couldn’t come in 'till after dark, this one’s a keeper!!!

Llilibe103, look just like one of Loehr’s Millenium boards. Love it. I have an old 8-6 on the rack that does just what you say. I’m building another one at 8-0 as a quad.
