How do you tell when you’re getting close to going too far? How much is > too much? JR just skin the blank and clean it up and leave the areas under your feet as close as possible. you’ll take more of the top in the front and towards the nose for a modern foil. i try not to go than 3/16th in middle of the deck(after skinning).

Gene, I wanted to buy from Walker, but he said he just does wholesale, and I don’t have a re-sale number. I thought about just showing up and buying, but I don’t want to waste the trip if they won’t sell to me. Do you think he would sell to me?

Do you think > he would sell to me? yeah, gene… although you didn’t specifically say “walker blanks” in your post, i’m going to assume that’s what you meant…i have yet to find a source of walker blanks anywhere in florida, and searching the net for any walker info at all has proven fruitless. i’d love to experience the advantages that this product may offer, but judging from the lack of available info and sources, it looks like they may not be interested in the business of non-commercial builders. if we are talking about walker, is my perception wrong? at least i can find clark blanks and clark info.

Are there brands of foam that have foam that is as dense in the middle as the skin. What brands would they be. As I am in Canada, options are extremely limited. I didn’t realize there was another manafacturer, at least one of any size, other than clark foam. What about making your own blanks. Anyone given it a try.
Try hotwire cutting your own blank from 2 lb/sq ft Expanded PolyStyrene EPS foam. It is consistent throughout. You can form a blank from any block that’s larger than the intended board. Just throw away any foam that doesn’t look like your surfboard. How to do it? Check out: http://www.viser.net/~anthwind/Material_Info/material_info.html Look up hotwire cutters and foam suppliers. Then check your local phone book for EPS suppliers. I bought my EPS blanks in Houston from: http//www.frysurfboards.com I cut out my own rocker templates for them to hotwire. If you need rocker template dims, maybe I can help. You Have to use epoxy resin and extra glass against EPS.
