Overlin Surfboards

I just picked up a 6’6" Overlin board from an estate sale in Savannah,Georgia. It looks to be early 1970"s.Flat deck single fin with a beak nose and swallowtail.Bottom is lime green resin tint with clear deck and black resin pins.It looks just like the early Lightning Bolts or Brewers. The logo looks kind of like a five pointed star.I am going to sell it after I get a template and rocker dimensions.I would be thankful for any info on Overlin Surfboards. Thanks, RB

The star logo is Tom Overlin. His brother Jim also made boards. And you should hold on to that board. They’re from a pretty interesting era in surfing.

Thanks Josh.Yep it’s from the era when I was toiling daily in the industry.I can remember the name Tom Overlin,I think he was from Santa Cruz?Anyway the guy I got the board from thought it was made on the East Coast but I am not sure.Anybody know where these boards were made?As for keeping it, I can’t.I am a board collecting addict in a 12 step recovery program. If I keep this one it will be back to Rehab and cold turkey withdrawl symptoms. RB

Tom shaped all over the USA.

Jim based out of SC, but prolly guest shaped around also, as most shapers did in those days.

Tom was the BEST goof backside surfer I ever saw, and I saw RolfArness in the same waves. Quicker than a cat, balanced and oh so smooth, his quick turning style was beyond what most judges could recognize.
