pacific vibrations

hey does anyone out there have a “copy” of pacicfic vibrations ? or know where i can get one !

yep…

This is the best I could do…

thanks , but i already have the same poster , w/o the folds ! i’m looking forthe video . it briefly released in the 80’s , but , had some copy right issues !

I’ve seen a recent copy but to tell you the truth, it’s a pretty bad movie. The caliber of surifng is shockingly bad, and it’s a crude effort at best that somehow still resonates with our culture. Way too stoner oriented, and way too much brain food ingested while filming and surfing in it from all appearances. If anything, it exists as a cautionary tale, though I’m not sure many would see it as such. Just remember what happened to me for starters…

I have seen it being offered for auction on ebay. Seems it is released in Australia and some guy had a few tapes available. Like the previous poster stated its a bit heady, but serves as a time capsule of that era. I’d rate it as 2.5 out of 5. My favorite tapes from that era are “Cosmic Children”, “A Sea for Yourself” and “Tales From the Tube”. http://www.cheynehoran.com.au

I shaped a board for the guy that handles John Seversons artwork a few years ago. I told him I would shape for him if he got a copy of P. V. from John for me. It really wasn’t out on video at that time, but when he picked up the board he had a copy for me. I agree, It isn’t the best surfing ever photographed, but for me to have a copy was insane! I remember so many nights at the Surf Theatre in the early 70’s digging the music and North Shore footage. Really liked the Ranch sequence with “Woden Ships”. Aloha and Merry Christmas to all, TW

I have a copy. The quality of my copy is so-so, there’s a 3 second tweak in the self-titled song segment. I’ve been looking to trade someone a copy of it for a copy of Crystal Voyager. Dunno if doing that is frowned upon?? It’s not for collecting purposes, I’ve just never seen C.V. and have really been itchin’ to. Crusty copies are ok as long as I can get the jist of it! (I don’t make a habit of swappin vids or anything, these two are just kinda hard to find.)

I send Severson an e-mail a few months ago, thanking him for his contribution to the sport / art… We exchanged a few e-mails, in one of which John said that HE doesn’t have a clean copy of PV…He also said something about PV being re-released next year… PaulJensen http://www.hollowsurfboards.com

In my opinion, it was the best main-stream surf movie of its time. The music, photoraphy, and surfing was state of the art. For this seventeen year old surfer, it was awe inspiring and reaffirmed my desire to be a surfer and to live the surfing life. The movie was about a time period in which the “Shortboard Revolution” was going into full swing and people were experimenting in design, surfing technique, and lifestyle in which a lot of ground was being covered. Thirty years from now, surfers may look back to our current era and might not be too impressed, but keep in mind that everything is relative. Anyway, I’d love to get a copy.

The combination of opening title sequence and first flash-frame edited surfing sequence blew my mind the first time I viewed it.
