I am wondering which paint to use after I repair my Boardworks TEC, and also if I should use primer. One time I tried using Tuflite paint, but the consistency was all wrong, so I am looking for something else.
I got my hands on a can of Krylon Indoor/Outdoor flat white paint at the auto shop. I also got some of the primer that goes with it: (The spam filter won’t let me post links to these products, but I put pictures below. You can also find them on acehardware dot com)
Does anyone with experience know if this will be good stuff to use, and if I need to use the primer too? Do I need to sand at any stage in the process?
I tend to like the Kryon Fusion paint myself. But it depends, decks you can use pretty much anything as your going to wax or pad it up. Getting the color to match is the hard part.
For bottoms The gloss spray can stuff will give a better finish than flat. Just make sure to use good paint prep. Sand smooth, clean with some type of solvent, then light coats making sure you let it dry completely in between.
If it is a big ding and you had to do full surgery then you should follow the steps that the Boardlady has on her website. Pretty awewome site for ding repair.
The primer isn't absolute unless the paint your using calls for it. If you have some you can use it as a scratch filler. Spray primer in light coats sanding with 220 to fill the micro scratches.
If you have to do full restoration then the paint that is required is a 2 part liquid death automotive paint. Isocynates as in cyanide and no there is no respirator other than a forced air unit that will protect you from the fumes.
