Paint on an alaia

Hey everybody I’m new to the site.

Anyway I’m planning on making an alaia and my girlfriend (who’s an awesome artist) wants to paint it. My question is what kind of paint will not run or smudge in the salt water? The board will most likely be made of pine or some other cheaper wood because it is hard to find good board wood living in south India. Is there any wood that might hold the paint any better? And if it makes any different I will probably finish the board with a mixture of linseed oil, turpentine gum, and apple cider vinegar with two more coats of linseed oil on top of that.

Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated!

that blue toilet stuff, bluee loo its called here in Oz, stains it up nicely…

I was thinking something more along the lines of paint for like detailed artwork than just a single color stain.
What do you think about carving in re artwork beforehand, then painting it with some type of oil or acrylic base paint and then filling in the carved out area with a clear epoxy resin… Then I could just and it down to be nice and even with the rest of the deck.

Anything wrong with that plan?
