paint question! my first shape

hey everybody. just finished shaping my first board! wondering when to apply the paint. im using 4oz E cloth and “big swell laminating resin” and “big swell sanding resin” wondering if i apply the paint directly to the foam, or over the cloth ?

any help would be greatly appreciated as this is my first ( of hopefully many ) boards and i dont know alllll that much what im doing. just kinda winging it and so far its coming along good!

Mike, It’s safest to paint on the foam. Colors are more crisp if you paint on the hotcoat then gloss over it, but there is a danger of sanding completely through the gloss and into the paint. On the foam is safest.

Use water-based acrylic paint or water-based tempra.

Look in the archives. There is lots of information from people with experience giving you the wealth of their knowledge.
