Patterned Cloth supplier?

Hey,

Does anyone know where I can buy patterned fibreglass cloth, Like the hawaiian nose patches for example?

I know Seabase do some but I cannot find any online?

Cheers

Jack

I don’t know if there is such a thing as pattern-printed fiberglass cloth.  The hawaiian nose patches you mention are typically a piece of fabric… I believe coton works best… that are probably purchased at a very non-surf oriented place of business… like Jo-Ann fabrics…  The fabric is laminated as a deck patch – the area is taped off, hawwain fabric is lam coated on, trimmed at the tape line, and then the fiberglass layers are lamminated over it in another step.

I like putting fabric on my boards and I found that only 100% cotton works.  I had a total delamination before I even got to hot coat with a a piece of fabric that was part synthetic.  You can search around the archives for “fabric inlay” and get some more specific info…

Most of what you see is as Farmer pointed out merely cotton fabric, however Channel Islands have been doing some boards with printed fiberglass but I have no idea of their source.

Back in the '60s it was more common, for example, I think "Bing" used it at one stage. Maybe he will chime in with some info
