Whoa! I’ve been waiting for you to post some pictures of that board ever since you started mentionning this cork rails project. What a beauty ! Are you going to release some info on how you did those rails ? Do you have any close shots of these rails so that I can see the type of cork you’ve used. All I can find here in france are rolls of cork 2 or 4 mm thick. The cork’s surface is uneven, it’s not smooth. Is it what you’ve used ? How did you get a smooth surface before laminating? Apart from the rails did you use the same method as before? I think the previous board you showed us was heavier, wasn’t-it ? Pierre
Do you have any close shots of these rails so that I can see the type of cork > you’ve used. …e-mail me at:goofyfoot@thurston.com…I’ll send some…>>> All I can find here in france are rolls of cork 2 or 4 mm > thick. The cork’s surface is uneven, it’s not smooth. Is it what you’ve > used ? …I use 3/16" roll cork…I buy it at a local lumberyard… It comes in 4’ wide rolls…I cut the cork into strips 5" wide with a knife…I laminate the cork to the frame with solvent based contact cement, one layer at a time…>>> How did you get a smooth surface before laminating? …The cork is slightly porus, but it laminates to itself just fine…>>> Apart from the rails did you use the same method as before? …Pretty much…On a roundnose board I bend the hidden planshape framework around the nose…No jointery at that junction…I use a ‘bending plywood’ there…>>> I think the previous board you showed us was heavier, wasn’t-it? …This board is a bit heavier, but it is 2’ longer…Between this board and the first, I made an 8’2" that weights 18#… …Paul
