Almquist Lumber Company in Arcata CA has 4/4 and 8/4"

Paulownia lumber available. Widths to 18", lengths to 8’.

$6.50/BF. (707) 825-8880. North Coast of California

(Humboldt County).

Almquest Lumber Co. is really close to my house. I went down there today to talk with Eric Almquist (the owner) and take a look at the wood. Apparently the lumber came from a tree growing in someone’s yard in Oregon. Eric says the thing was about 30 yrs old and I believe it based on the size and the grain. The lumber looks really nice and has very attractive grain pattern. Some of the boards had solid knots though most of the ones I saw looked pretty clear. The lumber is still air drying but even wet the stuff is surprisingly light. Much stronger then I had expected too. Eric is good people so you don’t have to worry about getting screwed and he can resaw most anything you’d need. BTW: 4/4 and 8/4 are lumber yard lingo for 1" and 2" thickness. Hope this comes in handy for someone. I know the best board already went to some Swaylocker in Pacifica. Lucky @&$%$#&, I hope he enjoys the copious drool I deposited on his purchase today. Later. Spud,

Thanks for the info. Hey, I thought I was the only swalocker in Pacifica making alaias. Been talking with Jim at Almquist today about some of the 4/4 or re-sawing the 8/4. Anyone in the Bay area interested let me know perhaps we can split the shipping cost.

Mazetti’s bakery off Manor, the “old fashioned” donuts are better than the scones. I agree nice waves out there!
