pesky little pin holes

every once in a while I still end up with those pesky little pin holes in my hot coat. whats the root cause? any suggestions on how to make sure they dont happen? wats up wit dees tings man?

cheers.

You need better lam saturation!

If you aren’t tinting, pinbubbles can be cured by squeegeeing, tightly with pressure, gloss resin into the holes, on a day the temps AREN"T rising.

I thought so. it seems like the only way air can creep up through the hot coat …but I wasnt sure.

I always use a lot of laming resin but sometimes I probably “sqeez” too much out.

aint no body perfect all de time!

cheers,

Howzit oaktown, You can do a baste coat on the lam before doing your hot coat to seal the board. Also sometimes those air bubbles are in the hot coat when the resin set before they rise to the surface and disapate. I just did aboard that had a lot of dry and air due to overshaping the blank and making it very porous. the blank was sucking resin like i’ve never seen before. Aloha, Kokua

base coat as in coat the blank before laming or another coat of lamming resin before hot coat?

I imagin either way would work if the goal is to seal up any poss holes.

thanx kokua,

M

Howzit oaktown, as in a sqeegeed lam resin coat before the hot coat. Aloha, Kokua
