I have not seen, nor talked to Pete in several years. Just wanted to wish him a happy birthday. For me, and others growing up in the 60s in coastal North Carolina (near the Outer Banks), Pete was our primary source for surfboards and surf knowledge. We had to go to Virginia Beach for surf all related items. Although, there were other shops in Virginia Beach, Smith and Holland, and later Pete Smith’s Surf Shop was the place to go.

Sure enough, he’s with Freedom Surf Shop in Virginia beach now (www.freedomsurfshop.com). He’s definitely a great guy, when I see him I’ll pass along your birthday greeting.
Pete is a great guy. Spent a lot of time with him at the Surf Expo in Florida. He took Austin and I around the whole place and introduced us to everyone and I mean everyone. I know he is just getting over a simple surgery but he is doing well. I will probably see him tomorrow (Saturday) at Freedom and I will let him know you were thinking about him.
