This isn’t a board related question, but I was wondering what the general consensus was on posting Surf photos on a Surfing Gallery. Is it ok to put up spots that are not very well known as long as you dont name the spot?

Or is it a case of if its a “secret” keep it out of the Gallery?

I have a few photos not so well known spots, I would like to show people and I wouldn’t tell where they are, but I have found in the past you get some very negative feedback, if someone else knows the wave and doesn’t want that photo out!

Are there any rules!?

If there are no obvious land marks and you do not hint at any locations, then you aren’t hurting anybody. Plus, we want to see them! We don’t really care WHERE it is if they’re good. Hehehe…

Here’s rule #1… it’s OK as long as you send me a detailed high resolution map of the spot via private message.

Seriously - sounds like with a one week old registration, bogus ID of “Sham” and no contact info… maybe you’re trolling?

By the way, aren’t you in Livingston, New Jersey? What kind of secret spots are there?

i dont know what trolling is, but I was trying to find out the craic with posting photos up on Websites? I take photos when I go surfing and some spots I dont want to expose with too much publicity, I have asked around elsewhere and it seems as long as you photoshop all landmarks out and its just the wave and surfer and no names - it ok.

As for my bogus id of sham - its actually my name; short for shamus!!

And, don’t worry … Ireland has already been exposed heaps in countless movies and magazine articles. [Where hasn’t ?!]

Closeup watershots could be anywhere in the world , so don’t worry , just post them . [Heck , I know I do !].
