wow, you like the WP forwards, don’t you…
Thought you were going for more paddle and wave catching…with WP back of center.
Don’t forget to plan on more fin for that board.
Looking for profile, hope the tail is thick.
If I changed the WP from the initial blank design, alot of foam would be designed off. I also based this shape on my Hawaiian Flag funboard which is dubbed “the wavecatcher” - it’s a great board that catches anything from 1’ +.
The tail is nice and thick - almost 3 inches. Kicked the nose rocker up a tad. Took down the rail bands for a solid hard to soft. Wingnut fin is a 8" with the two side bites. This board should float me, easy paddle, easy catch, easy turn, easy trim, and looks good too. I have 3 orders already from the local gallery…
mahalo,

That is SWEEEEET!
You are going to have a great time. should give more than adequate flotation, turn easily and trim out smooth and quick on the face of the wave.
just ordered a 9’3 blank from clark for myself today. looking forward to mucho flotation on our small summer waves here in fla.
Thanks for the reply. Did you get the Sid Madden “El Thicko” shape from Clark? It’s plenty of foam to work with. In fact, I’m addicted to designing 8’-9’0" boards. Don’t know why. If you build it they will come…
Where in Fla are you?

Hey BB ,what is the measure on the square tail?? Looks wide in the pics, nice work and nice board. I am sure you will have a blast “testing” it out in Hawaii. Out of curiosity, what did you do to the bottom from nose to tail? (flat, rolled, vee ect…) Thanks and have fun…peace and waves…
9-1/2" tail. Bottom from nose to tail is mostly flat, maybe a very, very slight “V” when closer to the rails. Have diff fins I can try on those nice breaks in front of the Royal Hawaiian. I took into consideration when designing a nice chat with Lauren - he hipped me to alot of shaping gems.
mahalo,

Howzit Bill, Are you going to be only on Oahu or do any outer island traveling. If you happen to come to Kauai, stop on bye, any Swaylockians are always welcome in my shop to talk story, plus you have to go pass Ambrose’s place to get to the north shore. Aloha, Kokua
effing whoopee. another fat tanker in wacky-wacky. But then again, I ride a nine-six on occasion too.
Most of the longboards down in the pit from Queens through Canoes are more like 9foot-something long, 22 or so inches wide and under 3 inches thick. You’re much wider and thicker, more than you need I think. Length would be the primary determinant for displacement hull speed, and you’re shorter than typical. Maybe the volume will make up for it a little.
And I’m six foot six, 230 lbs so I know the float regime you’re dealing with.
Yeah, I know that scene pretty well. The reason I decided on the under 9’ is because of the new airline restrictions. Under 9’ is $80 each way (double bag) and anything over 9’ is $165 each way! Ouch! Hey, if you see me and my son, give us a shout. He’s riding the 8’ Hawaiian Flag board and I’m riding the, aforementioned, 8’10" blue sunburst. We’ll be there from the 14-24. Always breakfast at Dukes, dinner a couple of nights at Cheeseburger in Paradise, and if Henry is still doin’ the Sunday pm jam at Duke’s, we’ll be there too.
Sorry Kokua, no Kauai this trip, though, I really want my son to get to the outer islands in the next couple of years. You KNOW we’ll stop to throw you a shaka.

Howzit Bill, I had some friends here for 3 weeks and we gave one of them a 9'2" board to take back with them. Well they had me get them a 9'6" double travel bag with wheels for their boards and the airlines (United ) only charged them $80. Did the airlines tell you they would charge you more for boards over 9'. I think the real bottom line is it's in the hands of the agent who checks you in, so be nice to them and it may pay off for you. Aloha, Kokua
never heard of those board 9’ and up fees
if you read the fine print on many airline tickets, no luggage the size of an 8’ or so is supposed to be accepted EVER
I talked with three separate UAL agents and they all told me the same thing. New policy. Oh, well…
many mahalos,
BB
maybe it applies to monday travelers, we paid up front for the luggage fee and we fly out to Oahu on tuesday 80 bucks and mine are in a box 9’6"
aloha bill, perfect timing we’re expecting a south swell late sunday or early monday about 8 foot faces. see you in the water.
I don’t want to take any chances with UAL. If you paid your luggage fee up front, they will probably still measure your board bag when you get there. I can just see the agent telling you (with that typical agent look), “sorry, but you owe another $80 or we simply cannot load this.”
Heck, it made me venture into the unknown world of mini-tankers anyway, so I have no regrets. In the old days you could just hand it over to the curbside bellman, grease his palm, and ship whatever you wanted. Not so anymore. Rules are strict, for obvious reasons.
Tuesday? Have a great trip!
many mahalos,
BB
Surfa,
Nothing better than a da kine south, welcoming us on our first day! Well, almost as nice as those dozens of sweet F-14’s lining each side of the runway as you land at HON!
