Pics now posted of my Big Wednesday Board

Hi All,

I’d love your help in identifying this Lopez board.  Please see the thread “Help on Identifying my Big Wednesday Board” for pictures I’ve posted of it.  So far in all my searching I haven’t been able to identify another board like this, or if it was shaped by Lopez or not.  The thought has even crossed my mind that it could be the actual board from the Big Wednesday movie, as I haven’t been able to find history on replicas having been made.  The board is serial numbered with a Lopez signature.  Please take a look and help me solve this mystery…thanks!!!

I seriously doubt that your board has any connection at all to the Hollywood movie Big Wednesday, which borrowed its title from a John Severson film from 1961. What you appear to have is an off-the-rack Lopez Lightning Bolt built in the mid to late 70s. Nothing very unique about it. A clean Lopez Bolt or Tom Parrish Bolt is worth some decent cash. Your board is in average condition, and was essentially ruined when the fin was cut off.

Definitely NOT the big wednesday board, or a replica. Wrong shape (not a round pin), wrong size (too short), wrong colors (should be Orange bottom red top with pin lines).

Gerry has the original board. Look it up on youtube there’s a video with him showing it.

Don't despair.  It may have been one of the backup boards used in the filming of "Big Tuesday", the lesser-known big-wave saga
