pics of the 6'10" pintail

A board I shaped for my wife:

Single fin pintail: 6’10", 19" wide 5" forward of center, 2 3/4" thick, 16 1/2" nose, 11 1/4" tail 4" nose rocker 3" tail rocker bottom profile: 1/4" concave in nose to allow/encourage riding with a forward stance, flat through the middle for fast trimming and V at tail for drivey carve turns.

now to glass it!!

Love the shape, reminds me of one of Roy’s boards…

It even looks fast…

Besides the glassing what else are you going to do to it?

I’ve just laminated the bottom - not too bad but I really struggled to keep the tint even - it came out a little splotchy…

here is another pic too…

Im going to put a fin box in but didnt want to do too much to it… keep it nice and simple…

She’s a beaut , I can’t resist that teardrop !

Oh yer.

I love tear drops, sounds perfect and are those chined rails in the tails?

What fin you got planned? I bet it’ll rip.

yep,

they are chined and blend to a slightly down-turned rail about 1/3rd up the board.

I was thinking a 7" or 8" fin, something thin and fast, maybe greenough inspired.

The deck glassed a lot better than the bottom… Im thinking of making the hot coat on the bottom quite dark to cover up the splotchy glass job…

also need to name her… mmmm…

“I was thinking a 7” or 8" fin, something thin and fast, maybe greenough inspired."

Thats exactly what I was picturing it with, I’t gonna look sick can’t wait to see it finished.

As far as a name I’d wait till it’s finished before christening it. If it were green I’d call it “the green hornet”, if its purple I’d call it “the purple meany”

I call my wooden board of a similar template “the enforcer”.

Hey there ww. Funny you say yhte green hornet. I decided on that last night with a good friend of mine after hotcoating… heres another pic… with both hotcoats done… only sanding left now! and gloss… also attached is a fin I got out of the garage - I was experimenting with it about 3 years ago but it will be perfect to cut down and reuse for this… even the colour is perfect.

will keep the pics comming as things happen.

This board just keeps getting better.

Its scary coz that is exactly how I would have done it, same colours and all even down to the lightning strike in the lap!

Are you by any chance planning on doing red resin pinlines that taper in and get thicker at the nose??
