Finished pin lines over cut laps using sanding resin and pigment. Sanded with 220 grit, gloss coat applied. As the gloss coat smoothed out the pin lines started bleeding and streaking. Ready to sand off and redo but need help on possible causes? Thinking of using posco paint pen next time. Help is needed and i could not find any other threads on the subject.
the way i do my pin lines are laminate the bottom of the board, cheater coat resin where i will be pin lining, tape off pin line, acyrlic paint, lightly sand, than laminate the top to help prevent sand throughs. hotcoat and gloss if needed.
Perhaps your pigment was not well blended with the resin? Just a thought. I’ve never had pigmented resin pinlines or panels bleed or run after it was cured, especially if it was in a sandable state. Good luck.
Could be bad pigment or too much pigment. I use gloss resin (reichold). Also could be too much catylist. A resin pin should feel hard like a gloss…if it feels tacky you are asking for trouble. I just bought some black pigment that is bad and I am going to remove the pins and start over. Don’t feel bad…I have been doing resin pins since 1968. It can happen to anybody.
