What are the dangers of overly pinched rails? The rails for a 10-0 I shaped turned out very pinched. Just interested to know how this affects its performance.
I think rails affect the feel more than the performance on a board that long. On a 10’ cruiser 22+inches wide, you probably won’t notice much. Easier to sink helping you turn, mushy feel (or forgiving depending on your ability) if they are truly pinched. If you just overshaped the rail bands and have a hard down or tucked under edge they may grab or catch a little. If they are truly pinched (an equal curve on the bottom and top) and there is a little belly in the bottom, you might have stumbled into building a hull and you may be able to rail turn it. Glass it up and give it a run. Tell us how it works! Newbs

Say you are going across the wave high, and it is starting to come down on you and you want to go around the white water, as you drop off the face the out side rail towards the nose will dig. I had a Jacobs that was not shaped by Hap. My son was surfing it and that is just what it did. Hap stopped by my house one day and I asked him about the board. He told me who he thought shapped the board and told me what it would do. Which is just what I said. If the rails are just 50/50 egg rails then they will work great. That is the rail that I have on my boards. I also like th belly in the botton the Newbs was talking about. Like the man said glass it and ride it let us know what you think.
