I’m shaping a hybrid 7’ “big guy tri” for an intermediate adult male surfer who only weighs 125lbs. He requested a rounded pin tail, and an adjustable 10" fin box with FCS side fins for his board. It will be approx: 21 1/2"wide, 2 1/2"thick, 14"nose, 14 3/4"tail…with the rounded vee. There will be a slight amount of vee in the last of the tail bottom. Have any of you ever shaped and/or rode a similar design? Usually I’ll have a board under 8’ long designed with the FCS tri fin set up. I guess the rider will have more of a choice with this fin box on a shorter board.
…originally it was called a Widow Maker.I have built several variants of this fin set-up since the late 80s from 6 foot stubbie swallows to 10’ full blown guns for the traveler friends of mine.Herb …Do they work ,heck yeah,better with Superchargers though. …Last winter/spring I built a full blown 7’ stinger Aipa style with tunnels and all for a guy up in Frisco.It had the sidebites,and long box set-up/Supercharged.I believe he said he had a hard time keeping up with it.Herb

…Grant,#s 289,346…these are not the best examples but are the only here I think of.There’s another 2+1 pintail somewhere built by someone else but I can’t find it anymore.I remember when I knew every board on the photo pages but not anymore(kind of like cars these days!).#289 was built by Scott W. and he sold it to a shaper friend of his who rides it alot.The shaper friend gets embarrassed when he gets questioned about the board/design,and he has to admit it was not built/designed by himself.Herb
