Aloha,
Any how-to-advice on sharpening the blades on my hitachi planer(the after market modified clark foam model).
When my blade slows down it rips up the foam instead of a clean cut.

Clark offers a sharpening service at all the blank outlets. Most of the time it is free or almost; usually just exchange the blades. They also service the hand planes and spoke shaves they sell.
Note that the angle the blades are sharpened is much steeper than stock, so as to cut the foam more effectively, so do not go to a standard blade service w/o mentioning the new angle…
Hey Joe
I’ve found that as well but my blades were sharp, I have stopped slowing down on the foam keeping the speed at maximum will avoid ripping. Max speed onto the foam max speed off the foam, then release the trigger.
