pleskunas calipers???????????

i am trying to locate a place which sells these type of calipers. i read about Fiberglass Hawaii to carry them, but i can’t find a web site or phone #. i know there are easier ways to measure, like with homemade plywood ones, but i want something accurate. thanks in advance

if making some then 1/8" tempered masonite works good. use masonite to make your templates and build some nice calipers out of the scrap. shouldn’t take more then about a hour. that’s $100 an hour based on the calipers i’ve seen at the store. mine are over 25 years old and still going strong. gotta smile everytime i pick them up.

Gene and Herb hit it on the head - at Swaylocks it’s all about make 'em yourself. The pleskunas calipers sure are nice. I don’t think I could ever spend the money on them but they would make a great gift to give or get.

a quick ? about masonite…is it the brown sheets, almost like a compressed cardboard?

a quick ? about masonite…is it the brown sheets, almost like a > compressed cardboard? dark brown(treated) tan (untreated). It’s a compressed wood, like fiberboard, but I think your on the right track.I build mine out of 1/8" doorskin/veneer,and a sharp box cutter.Herb. Oh yea,use a short shank bolt with a wingnut.

don’t forget to use a couple rubber washers from the plumbing dept.

don’t forget to use a couple rubber washers from the plumbing dept. If you wanna go super ghetto, I even made a pair out of thick cardboard and they work just fine.

If you wanna go super ghetto, I even made a pair out of thick cardboard > and they work just fine. if your going to do it do it right. with all due respect alex…cardboard sucks.

cardboard does suck, but if thats all you have at the time it works fine. i did it, and im sure some of the best shapers around the world have used cardboard at one time or another. Josh
